lacey underthings

lacey underthings

My mood and the weather these days makes me want to wear nothing else but shorts skirts, like this white Etoile Isabel Marant corduroy version, or denim shorts a la One Teaspoon with simple white tees or muscle tees (by none other than Bassike) and this slight oversized camouflage jacket. Or a simple but statement sweatshirt if I can ever get my hands on this Kenzo version. This of course needs to be worn with these Chloe boots, which I keep trying (and failing) to save up for.

But the ultimate luxury lies in the little details; the subtle scent of perfume and the light coat of lipstick. But more importantly, the knowledge that you're wearing amazingly delicate lace lingerie underneath it all. Time to splurge on the La Perla, darlings.

tie me by the waist

Jill Stuart cardigan // Current Elliot jeans // Steve Madden heels // Sportsgirl scarf & tank

Just a quick mid-week post to get through Humpday Wednesday.
These photos were taken near the end of last month, when the weather was a bit cooler. Although, to be honest, sweaters seem quite appropriate at the moment.

I bought this Jill Stuart cardigan in Hong Kong last time I visited, maybe almost 2 years ago.
My tastes have grown decidedly less girly in the past year so its been sitting in my closet for awhile. But I quite like the way it looks with my polka dot jeans and the leopard print scarf. I can't say no to a soft grey knit!

Hope you're having a great week so far :)

plaid

Uniqlo plaid shirt // Bec & Bridge skirt // Steve Madden heels // Cheap Monday cuff

Plaid was splashed all over the runway in New York and London this season- although it was a much more modern take compared to the shirt I'm sporting. I loved it so much in the 3.1 Phillip Lim show that I had to pull this from the bottom of my pile. It really didn't leave my clothing circulation but Phillip Lim really made me crave wearing plaid- I can't wait until this collection is available online! I thought Topshop Unique did a great job too- although I'm still not okay spending anything more than average high street price on Topshop, even if it is part of the collections.

I picked this plaid shirt up at Uniqlo when I was in Hong Kong almost 4 years ago (and this shirt too). I can't really explain how comfy these shirts are. I decided to mix it up with something that I recently acquired, this amazing Bec & Bridge peplum/trumpet skirt. Peplum has been such a strong trend recently and even though everyone is raving about it, it really doesn't suit my body type (i.e. without-a-waist) but this skirt really satisfies my peplum craving but it adheres to my body shape.

busy busy busy

Rush, rush, rush!

I am so enamored by the different aspects at play here. It's a chic outfit without any hints of the "how-many-trends-can-I-squeeze-into-one-outfit" game that so many streetstylers seem to play these days- but yet, it's so now even with all the 90s influences. It's a simple outfit that you can throw together from the items in your own closet- tanned legs are a must, not an option.

This outfit makes me rethink why I've been hiding my Joe's Jeans dungaree until warmer weather. I think it's time I layered it over a long tee and tie a (p)leather jacket around my waist. I still have qualms about ruining perfectly good leather. But rest assured, if this experiment fails I will refrain from contaminating my blog and your eyes with any photographic evidence. You can sleep easy with only this image in your mind.

Truthfully, I think my favourite aspect of this photo is the voyeuristic nature. Here she is, running out after a show, dodging the parked Mercedes and hoping that the white van/taxi/blurred object on the right will stop for her. Perhaps, she's renacting a modern day fairy tale. We don't know if her other shoe is still on. She could be running away from a brunch ball, needing to get back to the office before the evil step-editor does. Who knows?

botanical jeans.

Alexander Wang botanical jeans // Topshop Ashley boots

I wore these jeans the other day in a mini spring celebrate (despite the lack of traditional spring hues in my outfit) and my mum commented that she liked these the best out of all my "crazy coloured/printed/distressed" pairs; she said that she loved the cut. I told her that they were Alexander Wang. She replied, but of course.

Now you know, my fashion addiction didn't spawn out of nowhere.

p.s. proper photos to come. i picked up a summery yellow top from desordre that look amazing with these jeans!

uniform

Mango denim shirt // Bassike striped tee // J Brand skinnies // Oroton clutch // Chopard watch // Mimco yellow beaded bracelet

This is pretty much a variation of what I normally wear when I'm heading off to uni. As you can probably tell, I love a good pair of jeans and any comfy t-shirt to throw over it- then I'm pretty much happy. Of course, I have days were I really feel like dressing up but this is for when I really want comfort. And to be honest, getting too dressed up for uni just seems a bit silly.

I have an irrational fear that I'm wasting my outfit on an insignificant day

ksubi: start of a new era

bye ksubi

I hope my title isn't scaring you; no ksubi isn't closing its doors. But George Gorrow, one of the duo behind the brand, is leaving the brand after 12 years. Now, I can wax on about how Ksubi and it's contemporary brands, such as Sass and Bide have really paved the way for Australian fashion. It brought "Bondi cool" to the world stage etc etc but you can get that from any newspaper article.

I still remember back in High School where ksubi really was the 'it' brand for denim, and this was back when it was still called tsubi. My mum had bought me a pair of light wash Tsubi skinny-leg jeans with the iconic logo on the back of the leg; I was so in love with these jeans that I, rather ironically, rarely ever wore them and for $300 a pop I shouldn't have ever taken them off. Over the years I've moved onto pretty much exclusively One Teaspoon shorts and J Brand/Current Elliot jeans. But I've still kept my first pair of Tsubi jeans- I'm sentimental like that.

Truthfully, I'm not a huge fan of the Ksubi denim cutting but I absolutely adore their tees. I recently bought the "BADDIES" tee in black and the grey Chanel tee at the Bondi Beach store and the only thing on my mind is how I can get my hands on the army print tee. It's a sickness really, because I don't think I actually wear t-shirts that often and even then, mainly just my Bassike staples.

Either way, it'll be interesting to see what direction of the company will go now that Gorrow has left.

Do you have any interesting Ksubi stories to share?

new york, new york

images courtesy of the tumblr gods

New York Fashion Week is well and truly underway, and even though I won't be there myself- I can hardly contain my excitement! I'm not sure if it's a childhood spent watching Friends and Sex & the City, anticipation at seeing some of my favourite designers and bloggers frolic in my favourite city, although truth be told, I just want to see Ms Palermo do her thang. Rather than boring you with the same catwalk shots as every other blog out there I want to pay homage to the beautiful city. Even though I haven't been to New York before, I feel like I have spent many lifetimes there already. I don't think I could ever get sick of looking at this city.

Fashion weeks aside, my dream is to spend Christmas in New York amidst the snow, the fairy lights and Blair Waldorf dressed in fur. Until then, tumblr shall be my friend.

layering for spring

layering for spring

Clockwise from top left: Acne mint dress; Kooples yellow mini skirt; Fallon necklace; Rag and Bone denim jacket; Alice McCall dress; Zara khaki vest; A/X Armani Exchange sandals; Zara boots

Every year, without fail, during the depths of the sweltering Australia summer I lament the fact that I failed to enjoy the spring the proper way. Essentially, the chance to wear light layers and embrace the Teen Vogue philosophy of jackets (remember that The Hills episode?). So this year, I'm forcing myself to buckle down and not jump right into the swing of summer; even though the endless blue skies make me want to wear nothing but thin cotton dresses. Which is quite ironic, because as I'm writing this I'm wearing my favourite black cashmere jumper and curled up next to the heater (I'm a crybaby the minute the temperature drops below 20).

So, here's a few things that I want to enjoy this spring.

eye see.

I'm a strong believer in dressing to reflect your mood. What else screams I'm happy louder than bright neon yellow pants? Well, jumpers with block letters that are reminiscent of your childhood. And when you put them together, they might actually turn into an "eye sore" (see what I did there? A not so clever play on words.) but at least it makes you want to be in a happier mood, even if you're planning to spend the rest of the day studying the finer details of the Australia Corporations Law. Studying is sexy, didn't you learn anything from Seth Cohan (ohh...remember him? He was fineee.)?

last minute winter

Victoria Secrets sweater // Miss Selfridge leather jacket // Zara skirt // Luv AJ necklace // Etro boots

In lieu of actually completing my assignment on the finer details of Australian takeover regulation (I know, how could I resist something so blatantly interesting....please sense the sarcasm people), I decided to embrace the warm sunshine and ...stay indoors pretending to study but really just cleaning the backlog on my computer. I was a bit hesitant in posting this, I mean three outfit posts, three days in a row- I don't want to set any precedents that I won't be able to follow up on.

I remember taking this photo in the dead of winter, explains the bare legs right? I'm actually one of those people that can't stand any weather that's below 20 degrees, but for some reason (especially during the frigid winter days) the moment it looks sunny in the morning, I have the tendency to reach for anything short and leg-baring. Although, I'd rather like to blame that hostile look on my face on the contradictory weather that day, because like all winter days it turned cold, fast- but really, that's just my face.

I hope you're all having a great day, great no-deadline-impending day!

flowers for fathers day

Zara floral blouse // Rude Lucy blazer // J Brand 'Aidan' boyfriend jeans // Alexander Wang 'Caroline' boots

I only just recently found out that Australia celebrates Fathers Day on a different day from the rest of the world. I had alway assumed it was a international holiday that was celebrated on the same day, like Christmas and my birthday. But whenever it is celebrated, it always poses the biggest conundrum for me. I never know what to get my dad and I always end up last minute picking something up from Ralph Lauren or the latest COD game. This year, I spiced things up by adding flowers on top of my standard R.Lauren gift- but in the form of a floral print blouse that I wore as we spent a good part of the day just eating.

I hope you all had a great Father's Day with your dads!

first day of spring

Isabel Marant skirt (similar HERE & HERE) // Sportsgirl jumper // Acne boots (HERE & HERE)

First day of spring? What a joke.
I found these photos in my 'archives' from back when the weather was sunnier, ironically during the middle of winter. I found this amazing Isabel Marant skirt during the end of season sales a few months ago, I love the peek-a-boo red pattern on the under-layer of the skirt. I can't wait to wear it more during the warmer period, although I've been amassing quite a collection of skirts and loose shorts for summer.
Can you tell how excited I am?
