leather theory

Theory jumper, Bassike striped tee, ASOS leather skirt, Celine trio bag in 'rust', Converse sneakers, Karen Walker 'deep freeze' sunglasses

I'm really been enjoying the recent cold chill in the weather. It is most definitely my favourite time of the year (and not just because it's around my birthday). I love watching the trees in my backyard turn into a spectacular fiery hue, except for the Frangipani who is still standing strong and blooming. I've been trying to spend some time cleaning out my wardrobe and so far, all I've managed to do is to dig out a few jumpers and cause a greater mess than before.

Every year, I try to organise my wardrobe before buying for the new season. It's especially important with the shop on the verge of launching and going live, I can't emphasis how much I've ordered for myself. If I don't familiarise myself with what I already have, I will undoubtedly end up with something new but very similar; I really don't stray away from the tried and tested monochrome. Things like this Theory jumper, which I've had for almost a year and half now, has been on high rotation lately and if I hadn't found it in my winter stack in time, I most likely would have ended up purchasing something in that family.

I'm really enjoying shopping from my own wardrobe these days. I am so excited to share my "curation" with you guys!

gypsy soul

Asos dress, Isabel Marant 'Dicker' boots, Celine 'Audrey' sunglasses, Alexander Wang 'Rocco' bag

Nothing quite screams summer like a paisley dress.

When the temperature starts to heat up, I always make the conscious effort to add more colour into my wardrobe. There's something in the balmy salt-water tinged air that makes me want to neglect the standard greys, black and stripes (god-forbid!) and embrace the bohemian and all things brightly coloured (all the better to show off my tan, my dear).

colour pops

Kahlo shirt (seen here), ASOS shorts, Celine clutch, Willow boots (seen here, here & here), Mimco bracelet

Black and white is always a safe outfit choice. It's the fail-safe combination that I rely on when I just want a simple, chic outfit. But, seeing that it is actually summer (and Australian summer always means an influx of colours into my wardrobe), I decided to add some pops of colour into my otherwise monochrome outfit.

fluffy leopard

Asos leather skirt (seen here & here), Bassike tee (seen here & here), LV Speedy 30, Isabel Marant boots (seen here & here)

Leather skirts are such an easy choice when you're barely awake in the morning. I love wearing leather with absolutely anything- especially with a fluffy leopard. Leather really toughens up a look, especially with this leopard cardigan which could potentially go very wrong. I mean, that is a lot of leopard. So, I played it safe and wore the leopard cardigan with a lot of muted greys and my go-to taupe Isabel Marant boots.

simple leather

Josh Goot tee | ASOS leather skirt | Prada bag

Just a simple outfit from this long weekend. I'm a big fan of wearing leather whenever I can manufacture

an excuse; but really besides work, where else can I not wear leather? It's the perfect addition to give any
outfit an extra edge i.e. this simple but not really Josh Goot tee from his 2012 Resort Collection.

This bag lists high in my most prized possessions, it was an extravagant 21st birthday present from
my best friend, whom I've known since I was 9 i.e. feels like most of my life. Almost 2 years later, it's still
in pristine condition, which goes to show how scared I am to use it. I'm planning on keeping this baby forever.

comfort bubble

T by Alexander Wang tank (on sale here)| Rag & Bone 'portobello' leather shorts (seen here & here) | Senso 'Britney I' boots | Asos denim jacket (similar here) | Jennifer Zeuner necklaces

I think it's always important to push yourself outside of your comfort zone, both sartorially and in life generally (because
apparently at the wise old age of 22, I feel ancient enough to give such sage and learned advice- you can choose to not listen
but that will be at your own detriment). I joke , of course- about the ancient part not the comfort bubble part. For the
longest time, I was always scared to wear bright colours and to be honest, it's a fear that hasn't truly left me. I've long come
to terms with the fact that I will never be as comfortable in a bright red or a bright yellow as I will be in my greys,
whites and blacks. If I want colour in my outfit, it's usually done through accessories or shades that aren't as bright
as my top here. But once in a while, it's nice to challenge that preconceived notion, even if its self-imposed; and when
I do, I always match it with clothes that I'm comfortable in i.e. these Rag & Bone leather shorts.

batman ... not that you can tell

Urban Outfitter tee // ASOS denim jacket // Zara skirt // Witchery bag & beanie // Alexander Wang boots

Windy days are probably not ideal for a thin chiffon skirt, I can't even
count the number of people I inadvertently flashed. I swear this was not
intentional on my part (wholly intentional anyways- I joke!). I'm glad
decided to bring along my new denim jacket, it was heavy and long
enough to stop most of the Marilyn-above-a-heat-grate moments that
I was having.

Then, inspired by my tee (Batman print- unfortunately you can't
see properly), I tried to use it to pretend to be a superhero.
But the photos are too embarrassing to share.
A lady must learn to at least keep a few secrets- you already
know far too much.

yellow sunshine.

Sass & Bide jumper // ASOS leather skirt (similar here)// Low Luv ring // Country Road tote // Alexander Wang danica heels

Apologies for the week-long disappearance. Hope nobody was too concerned and called in the FBI/Criminal Minds people- although I really wouldn't mind, Derek Morgan is bangin'. It's been nothing but work work and more work, with the occasional Family Law exam thrown in. Y'know, just to spice things up. I wore this outfit a few weeks ago when the sun was being particularly kind and I forgot that it was still the dead of winter. I blame it all the LA blogs at the moment filled with sunshine, dresses and singlets.

Please come quickly summer!

old love.

asos floral top // forever21 suede skirt // sportsgirl socks // steve madden shoes // louis vuitton bag // random blazer

I threw this outfit together with some items that's been sitting in my closet for awhile. I'm not sure if it happens to other people, but I have a tendency to get really excited about something and save them for a special occasion and then I never wear it. It just sits there at the back of my closet wondering where the hell I am and why it's so neglected. This navy blazer is a good example of that, I bought it maybe 2 years ago and it really hasn't gotten the amount of wear that it deserves. I have the biggest fear of outfit repetition but really I just need to learn to reinvent them into different outfits. Hmm...single minded or just lazy?

But by then I have new loves and ...it's not a happy ending.

where's w(karen) ?

Zara knit // ASOS pink jeans // Chiara Ferragni suede heels // Witchery bag

If I had decided to follow the print on print route with this outfit a la my jumper then you would be playing a very interesting game of Where's W(karen)? Traditional means of camouflage usually entails army print and faces caked in mud. I took these pictures awhile back, when the cold just started to hit and I got overexcited and grabbed my chunkiest knit. I didn't realise how much my jumper blended into the pebbled way that stars in this post today.

I dug out these amazing Chiara Ferragni suede heels, which I bought on a study induced whim. But I still love the brush stroke pattern of the heel. It provides an interesting extra layer of texture to an otherwise standard pair of shoes.
