all stars

Alexander Wang tee (seen here), One Teaspoon denim shorts (seen here, here & here), Current/Elliot 'infantry' jacket (here & here), Chloe 'susanna' boots (seen here, here & here), Alexander Wang 'rocco' bag (seen here, here here)

This is definitely an outfit made out of my wardrobe all stars, you can just see from all the tags above how much all these individual items have been worn. My love of stripes seems to at an all time high, especially when dressed down with my go-to pair of denim shorts (nobody does it better than One Teaspoon) and my favourite deconstructed trench jacket.

Hands down, these Chloe boots have been my best purchase all year - they go with absolutely everything and even after almost a year, I still love them like crazy. Is it crazy that I still want them in black & silver?

Sometimes it's just fun to throw together some well-loved items and call it an outfit; my all-time favourite denim shorts, the Senso boots that travelled with me in Asia, the Celine trio that I wear with everything, comfy knit and Karen Walker 'deep freeze' sunglasses that are paired with everything.

hi-top casual

Sportsgirl top | Subtitled jacket | One Teaspoon denim shorts | Witchery belt | Converse hi-top

One of the best things about fashion is that its not consistent and you don't have to be consistent.
It's all about the frivolity of dressing up according to your mood and what you're doing that day.
Even if you're going to be in hi-tops and denim shorts all day, there is absolutely nothing stopping
you from wearing bright red lips like you're Anne Hathaway and ready for the red carpet.

monochrome blossoms

shakuhachi top (similar here| one teaspoon denim shorts | sass & bide clutch (similar here| karen walker 'deep freeze' sunglasses

The one fashion rule that my mum ever tried to teach me was the quintessential fashion equation of how to determine how
much skin is too much skin; if you're going to show your legs then hide yourself on top and if you're going to show off
your cleavage then hide yo legs. But given that it's summer where anything more than a thin layer of silk is too much- unless
you're at the beach (see here). I'm so thankful for this Shakuhachi silk tank for its high neckline which acts as the perfect
amount of balance to the denim shorts.

flower bomb at hyde park

josh goot tank | one teaspoon skirt | yves saint laurent 'muse' bag | senso bertina boots | bangles: dannijo & fashionology

Josh Goot is one of those designers that I always have trouble resisting, as you can see in this previous post
He always augments his collections with a variety of tanks & tees in his latest 'print of the season' and because of
my mostly casual style- it's only logical to stock up. I love how much the flower bomb print jumps and instantly
updates a tried and tested combination of tank & short skirt in the summer. You can never go wrong with
some additional silk into your daily summer outfit.

wanda beach

madewell top | seafolly bikini top | one teaspoon shorts| karen walker 'deep freeze' sunglasses

If given the choice, I would spent my whole summer at the beach in nothing but denim shorts and a variety of
Zimmermann bikinis. But when you're out there having fun, don't forget man's best friend. During 4pm-8pm a large
section of Cronulla's Wanda Beach turns into a no leash dog beach which is an amazing opportunity to take your pets
out during the sweltering hot summer. My dog, the happy German Shepard you see above, always has the best time
frolicking in the water with my friend's two Labradors. You always see the cutest and friendliest dogs there which
is the best bonus for a day out at the beach.

modern spring romance

Equipment shirt, One Teaspoon jeans, 3.1 Phillip Lim d'Orsay heels, K is for Kani floral headband

I recently read an article that lamented the fall of chivalry and gallantry due to the feminist movement. I'm a strong believer of to each their ownafter all, one person's polite gesture of opening the door for a female can and have been interpreted as someone else's expression of sexism. Whilst perfectly capable of opening my own doors, sometimes a simple gesture can be rather refreshing and reminiscent of the Austen world; a society that was heavily dictated by etiquette and manners.

However, this article did get me thinking in this fast changing world and even faster changing fashion. How does romance and fanciful notions of Prince Charming translate into our world, and more importantly our wardrobe. If our greatest example is the Duchess of Cambridge and her infinite wardrobe of sensible nude pumps. Should we be foregoing our Louboutins and leather skirts in lieu of tea dresses and wedges should Mr Darcy come knocking on our door?

The answer is a big, fat - NO!

Why wear a sensible floral dress to a spring picnic, whether its by the Serpentine or Bondi Beach or the Eiffel Tower, when you can restrict your floral to just a silk shirt to be paired with devilishly ripped boyfriend jeans. And maybe a floral crown too because, well just because. And modern romance should be exactly that; a contrast between the traditional notions of romance and our new unrestricted sense of freedom (and who said fashion was frivolous? Look at me being all theological and shit). The outfit should be the girly you that grew up watching Disney movies and the tomboy you that just wants to be comfortable. The heels? That's for the inner narcissist that knows a good pair of boyfriend jeans needs a good pair of heels.

After all, we're not really a boy.

palm beach// day 01

All about eve shirt // One Teaspoon shorts // Seafolly bandeau

There's nothing better than relaxing by the beach on a sunny day,
until the sun starts playing hide'n'seek in the clouds.
But then, it's a whole different feel which doesn't take away from
the amazing view. Nothing says summer like denim shorts and
oversized shirts with lace paneling.

miss chu sunday

On the weekends, I always want to put an extra thought into my outfit.
I'm not sure if its just because I have that luxury in the morning or a
celebration of not having to wear office wear. I'm not sure if it shows in the
photo but these knitted shorts are the perfect amount of weekend slouch and
metallic detailing. Plus, these Bertina boots are beyond amazing, they show the
perfect amount of ankle and are surprisingly comfortable. I wore them that other
day whilst walking from Desordre to Bondi Westfield and if you're from
Sydney, you would understand how long that walk is; although there were
pit-stops along the way.

I remember back in high school when I used to avoid colour like crazy; always
sticking to the blacks, whites, greys and sometimes pink. Now, I'm exactly sure when
it happened but now I don't seem comfortable leaving the house without some splashes of
colour in my outfit. As much as I want to enjoy simple white tee and jeans, I just
don't feel comfortable- which is actually rather ironic considering the sartorial choice.
However, there are always ways to remedy that situation- lots of colourful arm
candy, a bright statement necklace or in this case, a brightly coloured beaded
clutch.

baggies

Rag & Bone knit // Sportsgirl jacket // One Teaspoon 'baggies' jeans // RMK shoes // Country Road tote

I really, really wanted to show you guys these jeans that I recently added to
my One Teaspoon family, so you'll have to put up with the Instagram shot. I spied
these at the Sydney Westfield One Teaspoon store and
was immediately drawn to the colour and fit.

In actuality, the colour of both the jeans and the knit isn't that bright; Instagram
filters have a way of doing things like that (it's a nasty habit really). I've had a soft
spot for ripped denim since my first pair of J Brand jean (remember these babies?)
and these One Teaspoon pair are in the most intriguing shade of light blue
with a slight grey undertone. It's almost, almost reminds me of an acid wash...
except without the actual acid wash- so really just bleach (feel free to ignore
me if I'm confusing you even more). Anyways, I sized up 3 sizes
to get the extreme baggy look and so that I can differentiate this pair of
boyfriend jeans to my other J Brand Aidans (worn here, here and here).

It's the perfect solution for lazy and uninspired outfit days
Ripped jeans add instant bad-ass to your wardrobe
But you already know that.
