2014!

Sass & Bide tank, Helmut Lang skirt, Zimmermann sandals, Celine clutch

Hello lovelies!

It feels like years since I last posted anything, I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas/New Years and a nice break from work. I just wanted to drop by and check up on everyone and just remind everyone that (1) I'm not a (completely) terrible blogger, (2) I'm still alive and (3) I'm off to Europe in roughly two weeks!

It does seem only right that my first post of 2014 is all about the monochrome, with a pop of colour from accessories. The combination of the hot weather and my holiday mood has made me an extremely lazy dresser. This asymmetrical Helmut Lang (and an endless supply of coconuts) has made life a lot easier, it's so easy to just pair it with a simple tank or tee. My instinct to reach for my leather jacket has been quashed by the hot weather but I do have it on standby for the moment the temperature even slightly drops.

sunshine revisited

Sass & Bide jumper (seen here and here)| Zara skirt | Topshop sneakers (seen here)| Zara bag (seen here and here)

You know you struck fashion gold when you purchase something over a year ago and it's still something that you reach for in your wardrobe. Especially when it's not one of the "Cardinal 10 Necessities". This bright yellow Sass & Bide cable knit never fails to put me in a good mood. I love it paired with leather, denimmore leather and one of my favourite prints- python! It's the perfect solution to warmish days with chilly breezes. I guess with the weather turning warmer, I'm starting to embrace colour again.

spring tradition

Sportsgirl jumper | Sass & Bide skirt (seen here| Senso boots (seen here & here| Madewell belt | Celine trio

I just have to make it clear, I actually do realise that it's spring and I could lighten up when the weather does so. For all intents and purposes, this outfit did start off on the other end of the colour spectrum; quite a few outfit lives ago. But evidently, as much as I've been looking forward to the warmer months, I still can't let go of my lights, navys and blacks. But perhaps its just tradition because this is the same knit that I wore in early spring last year too

Sometimes it's just fun to throw together some well-loved items and call it an outfit; my all-time favourite denim shorts, the Senso boots that travelled with me in Asia, the Celine trio that I wear with everything, comfy knit and Karen Walker 'deep freeze' sunglasses that are paired with everything.

tetris

Sass & bide dress Subtitles jacket (seen here) | Acne 'Rise' boots (seen here)| H&M bag

This dress is something that I've had in my wardrobe for the past year and it's been on

high rotation. It's the perfect shift for summer days where all you're doing is lounging around
and eating. But it also transitions to cooler days, the perfect pop of colour to wear with your
khaki jackets.

But, after a recent epiphany (mostly due to the addition of a built-in wardrobe in my room)

I've realised how much the sheer of volume of my clothing has been weighing me down.
Over the years, I seem to have collected an endless amount of clothing but I constantly find
myself wearing the same pieces or similar items of clothing only, whilst lamenting the sad state
of my wardrobe. But this year is going to be different, I'm getting rid of all my excess clothes
and it will be approached with militant self-control.

Anything that doesn't align with my lifestyle now or my style now, will be gone.

Anything that I've had more than a year but have worn less than 5, will be gone.
Anything that I don't love or am excited to wear, will be gone.
Anything that I'm holding onto purely for sentimental value, will be kept in the garage.
I tried.

Anyways, most of my things will be listed on ebay and then maybe moved to a blog shop.

Everything is genuine and everything is priced extremely well. I really just want
the chance to streamline my wardrobe. My secret dream is to have a wardrobe that I can
walk into and close my eyes, pick out a bunch of random things and for them to all to
mesh into a brilliant outfit. My wardrobe needs to work as my brain, if only I had that

So, shop my ebay here and I'll let you guys know when I set up a blog shop.

p.s. just to show how serious I am, I even sold my Isabel Marant skirt from here
That's how serious I am.

again & again

Sass & Bide jumper | Joe's Jeans highwater jeans (seen here) | Mister Zimi leather jacket (seen here & here) | Alexander Wang heels | H&M bag

This outfit comprises of some of the things that I wear the most often; especially the heels and the bag. I've worn these
heels to death (as you can see here, here, here & here) and I cannot explain how often I wore this bag during my recent Asia
trip. I bought it on a whim in Hong Kong when I realised how much of a pain it was to carry the Chloe Paraty around,
but what did I expect? The brand is known for heavy accessories. Who knew this little H&M bag will end up saving the day.
It just goes to show that you don't always need to pay the big bucks for something stylish and long-lasting.

hey sugar, show me all your love

Sass & Bide tank | Kahlo vest | Nicholas leather skirt | Ray-ban aviators | Chloe bag & boots

Ever have that one person in your life that you always find yourself running back to?
Well, these Chloe boots are my equivalent of the Justin-Bobby (or my Scott Disick
for those that are more Kardashian than The Hills inclined). They are the kryptonite
to my Superman. The Birkin to my Victoria Beckham, if you will. I know, the quality
of my analogies are on a fast downward slope, however, it's been a while since I've had to
use my brain. Although, one can argue that to move from the Kardashians to Queen B
herself is nothing but a triumph.

Either way, the main point is that, after years of agonising and watching the price tag
slowly grow at a rate definitely not on par with inflation, I bit the proverbial bullet,
closed my eyes and just did it. And boy, did all that adrenaline feel good. It's the perfect
boot for any outfit and I don't really want to take them off my feet. I can't wait until it
starts getting the aged and worn in look.

rainy days

Sass & Bide jumper | Rag & Bone 'portobello' leather shorts (seen here & here| Converse studded sneakers | Mulberry clutch

In the oh so glamorous world of fashion blogging, there are a few universal truths. Aside from throwing away all the rules
you learnt as a child (i.e. you should never judge a book by its cover- instead, you learn to play your 'cover' to your strengths),
there is the universal importance placed on the unwavering search for the mythological perfect lighting. Sometimes,
someone up there shines a smile your way and you hit that perfect spot; the lighting equivalent of the 'G Spot' except
only harder to find.

And then there are days, or weekends, filled with so much rain that you knew you wouldn't even be able to wait for a break
to sneak a few shots in (photographic shots, not the tequila kind- there's always room for that). That was pretty much the
weekend that past; rain so miserable and dreary that we might as well live in London. But somehow, I got lucky and I was
able to take a few photos after lunching at the Cross. It was a simple outfit, perfect for a rainy summer's day.

on wednesdays we wear army print

Talulah top| Sass & Bide jeans | Nude Lucy blazer | Sass & Bide bag

There is no problem in the world (of fashion) that can't be solved with some army print. Not to be confused
with the actual army, Marvin Gaye has already taught us that war is not the answer and that love
should conquer. So, if love can save Harry Potter on numerous occasions, then surely my love for the army
print can save many an outfit.

The army print is a man of little words and only the important words. So, essentially its the
Mr Darcy of the prints. It's that elusive print that will somehow balance out that girly silk & crocheted
top you're wearing. It's that subtle print that won't try and upstage your brightly beaded clutch.
It's that print that will offer support and camouflage should you need it.

There are many reasons to wear army print, but mostly because...

on Wednesdays, we wear army print.
