grey pastels

Kahlo tank top | Bardot shorts | Miu Miu 'coffer' bag | Zimmermann heels

I scored big on these heels, so big that even a 'yo mamma' joke can be fashioned out of it. They're part of the Zimmermann Flip Side 2012 collection and they've always lingered at the back of my mind until I saw
them again at the warehouse sale last week. They're the perfect summer alternative to the Alaia
heels which I gushed about, except cheaper. Much, much cheaper.

The Zimmermann Warehouse Sale is one of those bi-annual events that you'd hate yourself for missing,
or even for not getting there the moment it opens. It's the perfect opportunity to stock up on their
delectable bikinis and sundresses (and occasionally splurge on a pair of heels that don't even require the
word 'splurge'). BUT I'm pretty sure it's only ever held in Sydney, I guess this is one of those only times
where us Down Under-ers don't turn a nasty shade of green at the thought of all the warehouse sales we're
missing by not living in the US or Europe.

BUT if you took a note at all the talent currently happening at LMFF (that's in Melbourne, darling),
I'm pretty sure it's time to get all jelly at our proximity to Ellery, Dion Lee & Lover, amongst many others.
Not that I wouldn't give my left arm to get into an Alexander Wang, Helmut Lang or Chanel sample
sale (I need to keep my right arm to sign for my credit card of course).

in the (metaphorical) dark

Bardot knit top // Zara scarf-print skirt // Mulberry Alexa clutch // Glamourpuss heels // Chloe sunglasses

Some outfits come together without explanation or reason; the sartorial cliche
of getting dressed in the dark? This combination was nothing more than a
whimsy to wear my scarf-print skirt and this knitted top happening to be
at the top of my clothing pile. I'm still new to the whole print-on-print trend
but I'm liking what I see so far. Given my innate aversion to the
clashing of prints, by nature not choice, perhaps that it how I should embrace
the trend i.e. by getting dressed in the metaphorical dark.

floral party on my pants.

sabo skirt pants // bardot knit // american apparel clutch // thakoon boots

I decided to step outside my comfort zone by pairing my floral printed pants with another pattern, granted that it's only colour block but still a braver choice than my original white tee. I kind of regret oversizing on these pants, I don't quite remember why I did it but now I'm stuck with pants that sit way too low on my hips even with these heels. But I adore the print so I'm sticking it out!

fringe matter.

Lee denim shorts // Bardot white cami // Sportsgirl lace & fringe bedjacket // Sportsgirl monochrome clutch // Jeffrey Campbell leopard wedges // Sportsgirl sunglasses

How dreamy is this sunset? I love the muted colours and the layers of clouds, such a change from the ultra bright and vivacious sunsets. It's the perfect backdrop for this lace and fringe bed jacket. I love the apricot coloured fringe and the cream lace. It has such a pretty vintage feel which I love because I never seem to find good vintage pieces. I wanted to wear it with denim shorts to make it more casual (but mainly because it's comfortable and I'm lazy).

I feel like I've had the jacket in my closet for almost a year now, sadly unworn. I need to stop falling into the oh-wow-I-will-always-wear-this-forever-and-then-never-wear-it-ever trap. My rule of thumb is- if I can picture it with at least 3 outfits, I will buy it. But has anyone else realised that there's always some pieces that you're super excited about instore and then once you take it home, the excitement weans and then poof! you never wear it. That's something I'm going to try to overcome- either stop impulse buying or just start wearing everything in my closet just not all at once. Or maybe all at once, it works for the man repeller and who am I to doubt that?
